Leadership in times of crisis

__________________________________

Leaders are born in times of crisis – but are they really? A crisis is an opportunity to show up. It’s a time when accountability truly arrives, when resilience stands tall and when we learn the real meaning of the word SUPPORT.

Perhaps the crisis is serving to highlight the leaders you didn’t think to notice before. The leaders that have always stood behind their teams and lead through support, encouragement and example. They lead with their humility, compassion and recognition that change is hard and requires more than just their own experience and know-how to navigate through. They lead by rolling up their sleeves, digging in, making mistakes and owning them. They surround themselves with other leaders and those that have the potential to grow into the leadership of tomorrow. They know at their core that navigating through crisis takes more than just the loudest voice.

Perhaps the crisis is shining a light on leadership qualities that got less credit before and enabling the recognition of just how critical those qualities are.

Transparency, integrity, vulnerability – just a few of the characteristics that are exposed through leadership in crisis.

There are more of these leaders among your teams than you may have known before you experienced crisis – now that you see them, what will you do to enable their rise?
